King REoL proudly presents...
REoL TOUGH: Fortress! A new level to play with, for Quake!
Level Design by George J. Fiffy II.
======================================================================
Quake is (c)1996 id Software and Nine Inch Nails. All rights reserved.
----------------------------------------
If you're trying this with the Shareware Version, IT WON'T WORK! JUST
BUY THE WHOLE GAME! Trust me, it's worth more than what you pay. :)
Will work with ANY version of REGISTERED Quake (used 1.06 here).
======================================================================
Since REoL TOUGH is an International favorite everywhere (whatever),
and some people complain about the way things are typed, Here are some
things you'll need to know:
* This doc is typed using US English, and bad spelling. :)
* Things IN CAPS highlight important info, among other things.
REoL TOUGH, as always supports EVERYTHING!
--------------------------------------------------------------
SINGLE PLAYER: You get to romp around this twisted world and end the
terror caused by those Quake Beasties.
MULTI-PLAYER: You and up to FIFTEEN (15) others go romping around to
do the same thing as in 1 player mode, but the more, the
merrier. Makes this level too easy though. :)
DEATHMATCH: You and up to FIFTEEN (15) others pair up into teams, or
go on your own, in killing off the other players.
------------------------------------------------------------
DIFFICULTY: It IS supported! Things can be very easy (sure) for you,
or you can select a HARD setting and really get nailed!
More about this garbage later, in more detail.
======================================================================
REMEMBER: A P100 system at 320x200 (mode 11) is recommended.
Visit the official REoL TOUGH World Wide DeatH Site!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Now REoL TOUGH is on the web! Download the latest in REoL TOUGH
action, cheat pages to find all the REoL TOUGH secrets, and links to
files all over the net, and more! Aim your browser to:

(Add "/REoL_TOUGH.html", without quotes, to get there quicker!)
======================================================================
Get on the REoL TOUGH Quake Mailing List!
-------------------------------------------------
If you'd like news on soon to be released levels, or would like them
sent to your E-mail address, E-mail me at GEORGEF551@AOL.COM pronto!
MAKE SURE your provider allows file transfers via E-mail! Some don't.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have access to the web, PLEASE go there. The mail
system fails on occasion when sending files, due to large numbers of
people wanting new REoL TOUGH releases. Thanks for your help!
Before you start, make sure you have a C:\QUAKE\TEST\MAPS directory
set up. This is where BSP's go (how id prefers it to be). Then at the
C:\QUAKE directory, type in: QUAKE -GAME TEST +MAP FIFFY
You'll see REoL TOUGH: FORTRESS appear. It starts on NORMAL skill. If
you want to change your skill level (you can here), bring down the
Console and enter SKILL X, where X is a number 0 to 3. 0 is EASY, 1
is NORMAL, 2 is HARD, and 3 is NIGHTMARE. Next, type RESTART. EASY!
----------------------------------------------------------------
For Multi-player and Deathmatch, ALL participants need a copy of the
Fortress level. Everyone starts in the main area, and YOU have to open
up the map. Makes for interresting deathmatch! :)
======================================================================
To play the AUTOMATIC DEMO (DEMO1.DEM), type in QUAKE -GAME TEST and
watch me go through this and get killed! :)
----------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: Those who do the C:\QUAKE\ID1\MAPS route, adjust accordingly.
The Same-Old, Same-Old REoL Tough Storyline (to some extent):
-------------------------------------------------------------
You, B. J. Blazkowicz, have once again been called into battle, this
time, you're going to a medevil fortress that has been open to the
public as a tourist attraction. No, you're not going there to take in
the sights, but to kill the demons inside! Oh, you didn't know those
pests from Shub Niggurath's minions were there wreaking havoc? Ain't
that a shame...NOT! Oh well, this sure beats sitting at home watching
Melrose Place now, doesn't it? Oh well, get going, whenever....
======================================================================
NOTE: If you played my Demise level, you'll notice that this level is
WAY better in appearance, just like REoL TOUGH should be! On the
other hand, to keep QBSP from puking, and because I ran out of
ideas for this level, this is a medium sized level. That's about
all I realy have to say here, except you'll aggree this is the
REoL TOUGH you remeber in the DooM(II) era. Enjoy my work.
I figured out how to seal up the level without the "big box"! :)
Known Boo-boo's:
-------------------------------------------------------------
(1) When the level starts up, you'll see WALKMONSTER IN WALL errors on
five beasts. That's a bunch of crap. For monsters that are stuck,
they move around pretty damn well! :) Quake doesn't like it when
you put big monsters on tiny walkways, or bars. In spite of this,
I playtested this, and everything's copasetic.
(2) Still trying to solve the wacky lift mystery, which also plagues
the Demise level awhile back. It's triggered as a 1-shot, but it
keeps going, ignoring the start/stop buttons. If you're on the top
level where the lift is, and it comes back up on your approach,
back off enough for it to head down, then jump onto it.
(3) Installing Windows 95 to your PC.
(4) Shambler faces the wrong way, but it doesn't matter. :)
